An outstanding and outgoing individual in the community, schools, workforce, and church, Dr Booker always strives to help and build opportunities for anyone who crosses his path.
Dr. Booker, a CTS graduate, was a member of the class of 1965 graduating class. At the 50th class reunion of the class of 1965, he was nominated as Class President. He has attended CTS School Reunions and individual CTS 1965 Reunions.
Dr. Booker attended Toney Jr. High School and later Councill Training High School, graduating in 1965. He went on to attend Alabama A&M University where he received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1969 and a Master’s in Education in 1976. Dr. Booker completed further study for AA Certification in Science in 1978, and a Master’s of Administration in 1981. He received a Doctorate of Education in 1994 from the University of Alabama.
Dr. Booker’s professional career spans employment in many areas such as: Madison County Health Department Sanitation Officer (1970-1974); Teacher at Ed White Middle School (1974-1986); Assistant Principal of Academy of Academics and Arts (1986); Assistant Principal of Butler High School (1986-1991), Director of Secondary Education for Huntsville City Schools (1991-1995); Principal of J.O. Johnson High School (1995-2001), and Director of Staff Development (2001-2008). He retired from Huntsville City Schools on June 8, 2008. His professional affiliations include membership in American Association of Retired persons, Madison County Retired Educators Association, National Education Association and Alabama Education Association
Dr. Booker is a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Toney, Alabama where he serves as Chairman of the Deacon Board; Assistant Superintendent of Sunday School and Adult Sunday School teacher.
Dr. Booker is married to Wilma Tibbs Booker and they are the proud parents of four children and 13 grandchildren.
